Bio

I am so excited to be in my fifth year of teaching and my fourth full year at Dale County High School!

I began what would start out my musical career as a 5th grader in Opp City Schools as a flute and piccolo player.  While in high school, I got the wonderful opportunity to attend many college honor bands and the Alabama All-State Honor Bands where I was a member of both the Blue and Red bands.  In 2004, I was principal chair flute of the Alabama District VIII Senior High Honor Band.  Being a member of these honor bands, as well as serving as my band director's teaching assistant during my senior year of high school, helped to foster my love for music and helped me to make the decision to become a band director!

I attended Troy University to persue my degree in Music Education.  I was a member of the Troy University "Sound of the South" Marching Band and the Troy University Symphony Band.  I then went on to earn my Master of Science in Instrumental Music Education, also from Troy University.  My next step is to begin working on my Doctor of Philosophy Of Music Education.

I am a professional member of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), Alabama Music Educators Association, Women Band Directors International (WBDI), and Sigma Alpha Iota (ΣΑΙ), an international academic music fraternity for women.  In 2016, I was named the National Federation for High School Associations (NFHS)'s recipient, along with the Dale County High School Band, of the "Heart of the Arts" Award.

I enjoy spending time with my children, writing, crafting, and fitness/weight lifting.  My late husband and I have a 5 year old daughter named Mary Madilynn and a 3 year old son, Sean Claude Miller, II.  We live in Midland City and are so proud to be Warriors!
